As the evening shadows descended, the Duchess of Devonshire entertained her guests at her summer home in Los Angeles, CA. Having just completed a tour of the display room, which housed such fabulous possessions as the "Star of Australia" diamond, the guests had retired to the drawing room to enjoy the rest of the evening. Suddenly Mitchell Henderson, who had been sent upstairs to make sure everything was secured, came bursting into the room. " The diamond", he cried, wiping sweat from his brow " it's missing!" "Missing?!?" exclaimed the Duchess in terror. "Get some smelling salts!" cried Lieutenant Sharp, who had noticed the Duchess collapsing in a faint. As the guests sprang into action, the same question came to their minds: Had one of them stolen the diamond? A week ago, I had the pleasure of attending a 1950s mystery dinner party! It was all so much fun and I thought I would share some photos from the evening with y'all. The mystery was fascinating, the dinner was delicious, and everyone came in semi-formal 50s attire! <3 Each guest had a specific role to play in the mystery and a 1950s style name to match! I played the part of a theater manager by the name of Doris Pressler. The dress I wore was a 1950s black lace formal that I purchased from Sea of Vintage on Etsy last Black Friday. I was soooooo happy to finally get an excuse to wear it! :) The kids did their own mystery/scavenger hunt (with help) before dinner. They had a great time and figured it out pretty quickly! Some of us tried to get photos outside after the party, but it was pretty dark. Thankfully, some of them turned out well! And that's a wrap! The party was so much fun and we solved the mystery in record time! (Well... actually it took like about 2 hours :D)
And we are all now thinking about what our next vintage-themed party will be! ;)

With summer almost here, I thought I would share with y'all the many fantastic pieces we have in the shop for the season! From clothing to accessories to books for the summer reading list, it's here! Click here to shop. Hey y'all! I'm back and with my vintage favorites that I've been enjoying this past month! 1. Bonanza This month me and my brothers have gotten rather obsessed with the 1960s/70s western TV show, Bonanza! We've loved it for a long time, but for some reason this month we just keep wanting to watch it. I would highly recommend it! Even though it is a western, it is not always just fistfights and gunslinging. :D The show has a variety of comedies, romance, and mysteries as well. 2. This purse from Little Bird VTG Isn't this purse adorable??? I love the wicker pattern! It's truly such a perfect purse for spring! <3 3. 1930s Nancy Drew Book Illusrations Lately I've been loving the illustrations from the earlier Nancy Drew books. I've always loved the 1930s style, but for some reason whenever I see one of them lately I just fall in love all over again! :) 4. These Bible verses
Philippians 4:6-7 has been a huge encouragement to me these past few weeks!! (Not exactly vintage I know, but definitely a favorite!) Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard you hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7 5. Victory at Sea Victory at Sea is a collection of actual footage of WWII from both the Allied and Axis side. This past weekend, I watched the D-Day episode of it to commemorate the anniversary of the Normandy landings. I would highly recommend it as it gives a good insight into these historical events!! Have a lovely day! -Emma What have been some of your favorites from the last month? Drop a comment and make my day! :) |
